Flannigan Installation Shower Door Installation
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Can the Center Guide hang over the sill?
A: The Flannigan Center Guide can extend slightly past the sill, but the part with the screw holes must sit flat on the threshold and be securely fastened using the screws provided. For step-by-step instructions, see Pages 18–20 (Steps 20–24) in the installation guide.
If you can’t attach the guide with the included screws, don’t install it. Using different fasteners will void your warranty. Also, make sure your sill is at least 2-7/8 inches (7.3 cm) deep, as noted on the cover of the installation guide.

Q: Can I install the Flannigan sliding door on a tub with rounded corners?
A: Our installation instructions do not currently have guidance for installing a Flannigan sliding door onto a tub with rounded corners. If you have round corners on your tub, you’ll need to modify the instructions as follows:
1. To make sure the Dam Strip fits properly, measure and cut it between the rounded corners (called radii) on both sides of the sill. This helps it sit flat and prevents it from sticking up.
2. In Step 6 of the installation guide, you’ll be asked to attach the Dam Strip Retainers at the outermost ends of the Strip. If your sill has rounded corners, the installer may need to adjust this step slightly to ensure a secure fit.
The dam strip retainer and its components.
3. If your sill or wall has rounded corners, the installer should check whether the dam strip retainers need to be adjusted to match the curve. These parts are made of aluminum and can be easily shaped using a metal file.
Tip: A vice will make holding these components easier when filing down. Once filed on one side, it should look something like this:
4. With both Dam Strip Retainers trimmed approximately as shown, they can then be placed over the Dam Strip on the outer-most sides against the corresponding radius of each corner/sill/sidewall.
Please note: Even with precise trimming, additional silicone sealant should be applied in these areas as small gaps are likely to remain.
5. For Steps 7 - 11 the Template is expected to be installed against the Dam Strip Retainers to get the proper depth placement (as shown in Step 8) and is supposed to be completely vertical and flush against the sill to get the proper height placements (as shown in Step 9).
If the environment has a radius on the bottom, you may not be able to exactly place the Template flush against the Bottom Sill.
Therefore, you will need to follow the dimensions listed in Step 11 to properly install the Top Collars at the appropriate height.
6. If the installer can round the bottom Dam Strip Retainer components and properly position the Upper Collar placement on their sidewalls, the installation can proceed as normal.
If the radius of the enclosure is too large for either of these attributes, then the installer should stop the installation.
Q: What should I do if my wall doesn’t have studs to install the top track?
A: If you find that your wall doesn’t have studs, or the studs aren’t in the right place for the Flannigan shower door system (see Page 2 of the installation guide), stop the installation.
Reach out to our Customer Experience Team for help, or consider the Traditional or Ashmore sliding doors, which don’t require studs.
