Contemporary Shower Door Installation
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: Does the Delta® Contemporary Sliding Door System fit a full 60-inch opening?
A: While the product listing may mention 60 inches, the actual maximum width for proper installation is 58-1/2 inches, as noted in the instructions. This ensures the glass panels are safely supported and the door functions as intended.

Q: Why does my shower door roll open after I close it?
A: Shower doors that don't stay closed or roll open are typically due to the bathroom floor being unlevel or the walls being out of plumb.
Q: How can I tell if my shower door isn’t working because the floor or walls aren’t level?
A: Assess this issue by doing the following:
- Lay a level horizontally on the threshold. Is it level?
- Lay a level across the length of the top track. Is it level?
- Check out-of-plumb. Measure wall to wall horizontally at the top and bottom of the shower door environment and subtract the two width measurements to determine how out of plumb the walls may be.
If the wall is out-of-plumb by 3/8 inch or less, you can adjust the roller assemblies during installation by raising one side of the panel and lowering the other to even things out.
If the out-of-plumb difference is more than 3/8 inch, no adjustments can be made. Do not install the shower door system.
PLEASE NOTE: If the threshold isn't level, please consult your contractor to determine appropriate solutions for correcting the out-of-plumb condition of your walls.
Q: Can I use a bathtub shower door track for a walk-in shower?
A: No. Be sure you have a shower door track for a walk-in enclosure and a bathtub track for a glass sliding door installed on a tub. They are not interchangeable.
If you purchased the wrong track for your enclosure (i.e. you purchased a bathtub sliding door when you have a walk-in shower), do not simply adjust the side jambs to fit. This will void the warranty and cause a safety issue. Installing the correct track to the correct enclosure is essential.
Q: Can I cut the shower door jambs to make them fit my tub?
A: No. The installation instructions for the Contemporary shower door system do not require cutting and doing so will void your warranty.
Our shower and tub glass packages are color-coded for a reason. Orange for bathtub glass and tracks and green for shower glass and tracks.
If you're ever in doubt, feel free to reach out to the Delta Customer Experience Team before making any cuts. Our team is happy to help ensure you have the correct measurements and parts.
