Cabot Shower Door Installation

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: Do I need a special cleaner for shower doors with Spot Guard coating?

A: No. We recommend using only mild detergents or warm soapy water to clean glass shower doors with Spot Guard coating.  Learn more about the benefits and care of water-repelling coatings like Spot Guard

Please note! Certain cleaning chemicals can be harmful to all shower door glass. Refer to the Care and Cleaning section at the bottom of Page 3 in your installation guide or the article How Do I Clean My Shower Door

Q: Why does my shower door handle keep coming loose?

A: If your shower door handle feels loose or wobbly, you may have missed a key step from installation. For safety and smooth function of your shower door system, we recommend you redo the handle installation. Go to Pages 39-40 (Steps 64-67) of your shower door installation guide.

Double-check that all bushings and gaskets are in place and that you applied silicone sealant to both ends of the handlebar. Need a hand? Our Customer Experience Team is always here to help, just reach out through our Contact Us form.

Q: Do you need to drill into the tub to install a bathtub shower door?

A: Yes. You will need to drill into the sill of the bathtub to attach the center guide base bracket. Details of this part of the bathtub shower door installation are on Pages 16-18 (Steps 15-19) of the installation guide.

Q: Can shower door handles be used as towel bars?

A: Yes, our door handles are meant to hang towels and washcloths. However, they should never be used for weight leverage, like a grab bar.

Q: What's the difference between a walk-in shower door vs. bathtub shower door installation? Will I need to drill into the sill?

A: The installation process is nearly the same whether you're working with a bathtub or a walk-in shower. The notable differences are on Page 13, Steps 10–11 for the top track collar and Page 26, Step 36 for the side seal.

Drilling into the sill is required for both walk-in showers and bathtub shower doors to install the center guide bracket. Please see Pages 16–18, Steps 15–19 for details.
